The After-Party Dress

A bride's second dress deserves an editorial of its own. "The After-Party Dress" celebrates the moment a wedding tips over into a party: the short dress trimmed in feathers, the veil worn like a fashion accessory, the manor staircase turned runway.

I shot after dark with direct flash, in the language of fashion magazines: hard shadows, shimmer, movement. The veil thrown into the air on the staircase became my favorite frame of the entire year. Between those, quiet black-and-white portraits at the window, like a breath taken between two songs.
